Who We Are
Our Mission Statement
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a welcoming community, rooted in God’s Word, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, and called to shine the light of Christ through our witness and service to the world.
The ELCA
We are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) which is one of the largest Christian mainline Protestant denominations in the U.S. The ELCA is a theologically progressive and socially engaged church that emphasizes God’s unconditional grace and active service to neighbors.
Our Pastor
The Rev. Dr. Dan Gibson serves as our pastor here at Good Shepherd Lutheran. He is devoted to communicating the truth of the gospel with simplicity, sincerity, and passion. He also has a lighthearted and fun-loving side. A Southern Californian native, Pastor Dan has a special history and heart for the San Pedro community.
Our Ministries
Worship Ministry
Our dedicated Worship & Music Ministry draws on the gifts of many devout members who prepare and carry out our worship celebrations each Sunday at 9:30 AM, as well as on other special festival days.
Foodbank Ministry
Our Food Bank Ministry is an agency of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, currently run by church members and volunteers, distributes every Sunday at 8:30 AM (before the 9:30 AM service.)
Garden Ministry
Our Garden Ministry Team gathers members of the church and the community to grow produce for the food bank ministry. We endeavor to bear witness to what it means to be good stewards of our rich land and our other resources.
